Privacy Policy
How Fair Carat (decentgemstone.com) collects, uses and protects your personal data, in accordance with the EU GDPR and French data-protection law.
Data controller
The controller responsible for personal data on this website is:
Registered office: 4 route du Sept Un, 16100 Boutiers-Saint-Trojan, France
SIREN: 812 834 612
Email: contact@decentgemstone.com
What we collect and why
Fair Carat is an editorial buyer’s guide. We do not sell products and we do not ask you to create an account, so we keep data collection to a minimum:
Audience measurement. We use Google Analytics (GA4), loaded through the Google Site Kit plugin, to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser). This data is aggregated and used only to improve our content.
Server logs. Like most websites, our host records technical data (IP address, browser user-agent, timestamps) for security and troubleshooting.
Contact. If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message so we can reply.
Comments (if enabled). If you leave a comment, we collect the data in the comment form plus your IP address and browser user-agent to help detect spam.
Cookies
Essential cookies keep the site working. Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics are used to measure audience, with your consent where required. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings and the site will still work.
Third parties and outbound links
We share analytics data with Google as our measurement provider. Some outbound links on this site are commercial (affiliate or sponsored) — for example to our sister marketplace minerals-kingdom.com. If you follow such a link, the destination site applies its own privacy policy and may set its own cookies. We never sell your personal data.
Legal basis
We process data on the basis of your consent (analytics cookies), our legitimate interest in running and securing the site, and the need to respond to messages you send us.
International transfers
Some providers, such as Google, may process data outside the European Union. Where this happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep your data
Aggregated analytics data is retained for up to 14 months. Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Comments and their metadata are retained while the comment remains published.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, email contact@decentgemstone.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the French data-protection authority, the CNIL.
